December 10th is International Human Rights day, and rather than trying to give details of all the bad things that are happening across the world I decided to take a more positive view and give ideas on how to make things better for those who are affected.
Currently the band Your Favorite Enemies (YFE) from Canada, are working closely with Amnesty International to promote the cause but also to show how just a little can make a huge difference. This is my contribution to that effort.
This time of year is a time of giving. People actively give gifts and cards to all their friends and family. So why not get just one card extra? Amnesty UK are encouraging us to send a greetings card to individuals and groups who are in danger or who are unjustly imprisoned. This is so easy. Amnesty give a list of those you can write to and the address. Chose who you wish... it can be just one.. it can be more... but all the details can be found here:
Alternatively you could share this e card:
Send it to all your friends and ask them to donate instead of sending you a card or gift. This also has the added benefit of bringing the cause to their attention... and sometimes thats all it takes.

There are other things that can be done if people cannot afford to donate money. If you have items you no longer need consider giving them to a local charity shop. Organisations like Age UK fight for the dignity of our older people. Unicef and Save the Children look at the rights of children worldwide.
Womens rights too can be supported. If you look at the Vital Voices website it gives you ideas on how you can volunteer or just support them in their online campaigns.
If all of this is too much, just sign up for emails from organisations like Amnesty International and one day I know you too will read something that fires your passion, and makes you want to get involved. Then you too can make a difference.
To conclude this small effort on my part, I want to share with you the video made by YFE in collaboration with Amnesty International.
Make a difference...... it can be done.
